Produced in Bookbinder leather, Gladstone is based on a boot produced for King George IV, who was known to have designed his own short riding boots. These had to be cut in such a way that the laces would be hidden by the stirrups, thus giving the appearance to others that he was wearing a long boot. This boot is characterised by its leather sole, a black hand painted London waist, and the lustre and shiny finish that Bookbinder leather gives - very indicative of 1930’s dress. Available in colours: black & chestnut.
