Daniel Tramping Shoe

The first shoe released in our ConsTruct range, this Daniel is only available from trickers.com. Daniel is the name given to our original Tramping Shoe, a style that was traditionally made for expeditions and pursuits. This classic four-eyelet Derby shoe is minimalist in design and differs from more urban styles (such as Robert) due to its more robust, rugged and heavyweight appearance.

The ConsTruct version of the Daniel comes in Black, Natural or Nut Brown Horween Derby leather, Goodyear welted with a Barbour welt for a lighter look, on a Commando sole for an American twist on an English classic country shoe.

The Leather

The Horween Tannery in Chicago, USA was founded in 1905 and is the oldest tannery in the United States.  Horween leathers employ traditional tannages and techniques, carefully updated with modern applications. Their leathers are still made by hand, as they always have been.

Horween Derby is a vegetable-tanned full-grain leather that is heavily stuffed with waxes and fats and is tumbled to add suppleness and texture.  This leather has a semi-smooth, low gloss finish with occasional wrinkles on some parts of the hide. It ages beautifully over time.

Sizing

This Daniel is handmade on Tricker’s 4497S last, which is also used for our iconic Stow boot. This last was created in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI. Produced by Springline - Britain’s only remaining last maker and an expert in their field - this last is true to UK size (see our size guide for international conversions). The Allan is made to a Tricker's Width Fit 5, suitable for standard width feet. In the UK this standard width is known as an F fitting; in the USA it is known as a D fitting; in other parts of the world, it is known as an M (medium) or R (regular) fitting. As all Tricker's boots are designed to be worn with thick socks, people with slightly wider feet can usually wear our Fit 5 boots with thinner socks.

In Use

Built with the outdoors in mind, this Daniel is constructed with a Commando sole - which provides excellent grip across all terrain - and this ensures that the shoe is ideal for tramping, country walks, wintry fan trips to sports stadiums and more.

As with many of our country shoes, the Daniel has also become a common sight in towns and cities across the world. Due to its comfort, hardwearing construction and classic, confident, Tricker's aesthetic, Daniels are worn by music industry professionals, celebrities and all manner of individuals who know what it means to own a pair of Tricker’s, wherever they are.  This Daniel is an exclusive shoe that you can only buy here on trickers.com.

Built to Last

As with all Tricker’s shoes and boots, each pair of Daniel shoes are handmade within our Northampton factory in England by Tricker’s craftsmen and craftswomen using traditional methods, and to the same exacting standards that first established our reputation.

There are over 260 processes used to make each pair by hand from start to finish. Every material used in the construction of these boots can be traced back to its source. Tricker’s uncompromising standards of craftsmanship, honest materials, environmentalism and sustainability are values that have been preserved and developed through five generations of the Tricker’s family-owned business.

With care and repair, these Daniel shoes can last you a lifetime. We often find ourselves repairing, resoling or reheeling shoes that are more than 50 years old and we offer this service by post to anywhere in the world.
