AW18 Museum Calf Leather Town Shoe Collection for Men
However, for many years we have made a selection of Town shoes which are extremely popular with our London Jermyn Street shop customers and discerning gentlemen from across the globe.
For AW18, we have launched four new styles for our Town Collection in Museum Calf Leather.
What is Museum Calf Leather?
This high-quality leather is distinctive by its beautiful variations in dark and light patterns. Museum Calf is created by hand, when a sponge is used to frame the marble, mottled effect while the hide is still wet. The result gives a soft tanned background with a darker front base. The smooth finish is extremely durable and hard-wearing. As you can imagine, no two pairs look the same, making them extremely unique.
Appleton - Plain toe cap Oxford shoe.
Lewiston - Single strap monk shoe.
Stockton - Punched toe cap Oxford shoe.
Trenton - Plain toe cap Oxford shoe with U-Throat detail.
Giving a new contemporary feel to the Tricker’s Town Shoe Collection, the Museum Calf collection is built on the 10660/1 last, known in-house as 1066. The shape is slightly slim and elongated but still staying true to size.
Built entirely in our Northampton shoe factory using Goodyear Welted construction, these are finished on a channelled stitched leather sole.
Available in classic black, these four styles also come in brown. Long gone are the days when you cannot ‘wear brown in town’, but we have you covered if you are a stickler for convention.
Before boxing, the toe box is finger polished by hand. Taking up to three hours per pair, the result gives a mirror-like shine.
If you are a devotee of this look, we have also produced our iconic Bourton brogue country shoe and Stow boot in navy and burgundy Museum Calf. These are built on their respective 4444 and 4479 lasts.
How to Care for Museum Calf Leather
We tried many different methods to clean this particular finish due to the nature of the leather. Below outlines the one that didn't leave a film on the leather.
- - Only use Tricker’s neutral polish.
- - To maintain the high-shine toe box, wrap a clean cotton cloth around two fingers. Using only Tricker’s neutral polish, ever so lightly dampen the cloth in clean water, dip gently into the polish and sweep gently over the area using circular movements.
- - Keep your footwear in their shoe bags to prevent damage.
- - Use shoe trees to help maintain shape.
