Product Description

We’ve brought one of our most iconic and bestselling boots to life in a new style, after listening to feedback from our Tricker’s fans all around the world. The Stow Commando is a reinvention of a classic Tricker’s design.

Available in 1001 Burnished, Black Calf, or Marron Antique, this Stow Commando features seven brass eyelets, a commando sole and a contrasting Tricker’s blue woven heel pull for a unique look, Goodyear welted with a Barbour welt making it durable and moisture resistant. This boot is built on the iconic 44972 last, which is true to UK size.

The Inspiration

Stow is Tricker’s most iconic men’s boot. Made originally as a country boot, but now worn by men all around the world across fields and cities. The Stow Commando was inspired by our customers around the world.

In 1940, the British military authorised Commando soles for use in the British Army, and in the 1950s Commando soles were used by explorers across the North and South poles, the Antarctic and climbing Mount Everest!

Leather Information

This edition features three colours: 1001 Burnished, Marron Antique, and Black Calf.

Each colourway features calf leather. Calf leather is finer grained, and lighter in weight than the hide of older cattle. This means that it is also more supple. It is also very durable in comparison to its thickness.

It’s important to look after your Tricker’s footwear. For this edition, we recommend using a Neutral wax polish. This will help keep the leather nourished whilst not affecting the colour of the natural Barbour welt. If you use a coloured polish on the welt then it will lstain and you will never get the original colour back again.

Sizing

The Stow is handmade on Tricker’s 4497S last. This last was created in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI. Produced by Springline - Britain’s only remaining last maker and an expert in their field - this last is true to UK size (see our size guide for international conversions). The Stow is made to a Tricker's Width Fit 5, suitable for standard width feet. In the UK this standard width is known as an F fitting; in the USA it is known as a D fitting; in other parts of the world, it is known as an M (medium) or R (regular) fitting. As all Tricker's boots are designed to be worn with thick socks, people with slightly wider feet can usually wear our Fit 5 boots with thinner socks.

In Use

The Stow Commando uses our famous Goodyear Welt construction, which is the most durable way to build a boot. A natural Barbour Welt is used to stitch the midsole, the boot upper, the insole, and the outsole together, making this boot durable and moisture resistant. All Heavy-duty boots need to be built in this way.

In 1940, the British military authorised Commando soles for use in the British Army, and in the 1950s Commando soles were used by explorers across the North and South poles, the Antarctic and climbing Mount Everest!

The rubber medallion centre stars provide not only cushioning, but also traction while the outer lugs are designed to provide stability and offset the toe and heel pads. This helps to improve shock absorption when worn for extended periods.

Built to Last

As with all Tricker’s shoes and boots, each pair of Stow boots are handmade within our Northampton factory in England by Tricker’s craftsmen and craftswomen using traditional methods, and to the same exacting standards that first established our reputation centuries ago.

There are over 260 processes used to make each pair by hand from start to finish. Every material used in the construction of these boots can be traced back to its source. Tricker’s uncompromising standards of craftsmanship, honest materials, environmentalism and sustainability are values that have been preserved and developed through five generations of the Tricker’s family-owned business.

With care and repair, these Stow boots can last you a lifetime. We often find ourselves repairing, resoling or reheeling shoes that are more than 50 years old and we offer this service by post to anywhere in the world.
