About Lightweight Bourton

Bourton is a Derby shoe that bears the brogue detailing synonymous with true country shoes. The Bourton is a piece of Northampton shoemaking history, and today they are the go-to shoe for men all around the world.

A full bellows tongue is folded and attached to the boot to provide a watertight seal, with the storm welt providing an additional watertight seal between the shoe's upper and sole. The profile of a Bourton is characteristically strong; with a solid sole unit, leather linings and the option of traditional leather soles or a Dainite sole for practicality.

For this lightweight and streamlined version, we have altered the classic sole construction of Bourton. Our lightweight version sees the removal of the through or midsole - the result once paired with a leather sole is a shoe that is perfect for a traditional country look without the weight.

The uppers have been created in Repello Suede, perfect for comfort and style whilst being durable - these hides have been treated with a guard during tanning to provide resistance to staining.

Leather Information

This Bourton is made from Cafe Repello Suede, a fine nap suede made from calfskin. The hide is split and aniline-dyed to create a velvety effect on both sides of the leather. The repello suede used in Tricker’s footwear is high quality, tanned to give a full, generous handle and rich appearance.

Fully treated with ‘Scotch Guard’ in the tannage, to achieve a high degree of resistance to staining in general. The proofing remains effective throughout the life of the footwear.

We advise using a suede brush to help with the aftercare for these shoes.

Built to Last

As with all of our shoes and boots, each pair of Bourton shoes are handmade within our Northampton factory in England by craftsmen and women using traditional methods, and to the same exacting standards that first established our reputation. There are 260 construction processes used to make each pair from start to finish.

Our story is one of uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and use of honest materials, which are values that have been preserved and developed through five generations and are observed as resolutely today as they were in 1829. When you choose Tricker’s, you never have to choose between practicality, durability and style.

Since 1989, Tricker's has held a Royal Warrant for shoe manufacturing awarded by His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.
