The first boot released in our ConsTruct range, the Allan is a reinvention of a classic Tricker’s design, now in Horween Derby leather with a Barbour welt on a Commando sole.

Available in Black, Natural or Nut Brown Horween Derby leather, this Allan boot features a tonal toe cap design, waxed laces and a contrasting Tricker’s blue woven heel pull for a unique look, while maintaining the Tricker’s aesthetic.

The Inspiration

The Allan is evolved from our traditional tramping boots, an evolution inspired in part by requests from our American customers. This is a classic Tricker’s English country boot with an American twist: Horween leather, Goodyear welted with a Barbour welt for a lighter look, and a Commando sole for excellent grip.

The Leather

The Horween Tannery in Chicago, USA was founded in 1905 and is the oldest tannery in the United States.  Horween leathers employ traditional tannages and techniques, carefully updated with modern applications. Their leathers are still made by hand, as they always have been.

Horween Derby is a vegetable-tanned full-grain leather that is heavily stuffed with waxes and fats and is tumbled to add suppleness and texture.  This leather has a semi-smooth, low gloss finish with occasional wrinkles on some parts of the hide. It ages beautifully over time.

Sizing

The Allan is handmade on Tricker’s 4497S last, which is also used for our iconic Stow boot. This last was created in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI. Produced by Springline - Britain’s only remaining last maker and an expert in their field - this last is true to UK size (see our size guide for international conversions). The Allan is made to a Tricker's Width Fit 5, suitable for standard width feet. In the UK this standard width is known as an F fitting; in the USA it is known as a D fitting; in other parts of the world, it is known as an M (medium) or R (regular) fitting. As all Tricker's boots are designed to be worn with thick socks, people with slightly wider feet can usually wear our Fit 5 boots with thinner socks.

In Use

The Allan is a heavyweight, sturdy boot with great grip, ideal for use in the field, walking in the countryside, wintry fan trips to a sports stadium or even in an industrial environment.

But that doesn’t mean it’s only for heavy use! For many years we’ve seen our customers wearing our traditional country boots in town, where their blend of comfort and style has been a firm favourite from Tokyo DJs to London creatives.

The blend of stylish finish with rugged functionality encapsulates the individuality of the Tricker’s wearer.  The Allan is an exclusive boot that you can only buy here on trickers.com.

Built to Last

As with all Tricker’s shoes and boots, each pair of Allan boots are handmade within our Northampton factory in England by Tricker’s craftsmen and craftswomen using traditional methods, and to the same exacting standards that first established our reputation centuries ago.

There are over 260 processes used to make each pair by hand from start to finish. Every material used in the construction of these boots can be traced back to its source. Tricker’s uncompromising standards of craftsmanship, honest materials, environmentalism and sustainability are values that have been preserved and developed through five generations of the Tricker’s family-owned business.

With care and repair, these Allan boots can last you a lifetime. We often find ourselves repairing, resoling or reheeling shoes that are more than 50 years old and we offer this service by post to anywhere in the world.
